Cape Cod Life, Including Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket

“In Good Hands, at Spas on the Cape and Islands, the Focus is on Health as well as Beauty,” by Cheryl Kain, July 2005, pages 88 to 92.

“A Whale of a Spa”

The 1830’s Whalewalk Inn, near the Eastham rotary, is a hidden treasure on the outer Cape. Boatmeadow Beach and Rock Harbor are a short walk away, and the quaint towns of Orleans and Eastham are also nearby.

The inn’s brand-new freestanding Spa and Wellness Center on the beautiful grounds houses a carpeted fitness room that includes a cardiovascular area with weights and machines – bio-flex, treadmill, bike and elliptical trainer. Subdued earth tones and American antique furniture eclectically blend with contemporary accents like a bamboo rug and a copper fountain in the shape of tall reeds with branching leaves.

The spa menu includes scrubs, herbal wraps, facials, and several types of massage, and features the herbal-based Kur skincare line. After your massage or facial, relax Swedish-style in the cedar sauna, turn the corner for the indoor resistance pool and swim against the current, then end with a soak in the hot tub. Radiant heat keeps the tiled floors around the pool comfortably warm, and skylights bring the beautiful scenery indoors.
