A haven of comfort and style set in a hushed residential area of Eastham. The main house is a former whaling master’s residence, where guests gather in its den in the early evening for hors d’oeuvres and where breakfast is enjoyed in the slate-floored dining porch. Four guestrooms are also contained within this antique portion of the property smaller ones with, perhaps, queen-sized, four-poster beds mounded with comfy pillows and a pastel comforter, and larger rooms with king beds and sitting areas. Deluxe two-room suites with kitchenettes are contained in the converted barn and guesthouse, and, in 1997, additional spacious accommodations were added in the Carriage House, all with private balcony or terrace.
Each of the inn’s rooms and suites is beautifully decorated and has a crisp uncluttered feel. Antique four-posters are dressed in fine bed linens, wingback chairs are set near lamps for a relaxing read, and televisions are tastefully hidden away. Several of the Whalewalk’s 16 accommodations have jetted tubs for two, steam shower, and gas-operated fireplace.
A new addition to the inn, slated for opening in early spring of 2005, is its very own Wellness Spa. Innkeepers Elaine and Kevin Conlin are constructing a new building on the three verdant acres that will house a resistance pool, full exercise room, sauna and massage treatment room.
