Modern Bride Boston
Romantic RoomsBoston’s Great Wedding-Night Hideaways

Summer 2004
The wedding night may be all about the love, but a few frills never hurt. We searched the greater Boston area and found four honeymoon hotels with all the romantic amenities newlyweds will need
and then some.
Set on a quiet Cape Cod country road in Eastham, the Whalewalk Inn, formerly a sea captain’s residence and later known as the Whalewalk Farm, is a three-acre estate with five lodgings (16 rooms) spread throughout. There’s the Inn, the Barn, the Carriage House, the Guest House and our favorite, the single-room Saltbox Cottage. Rooms and suites alike offer plenty of amenitiesfireplaces, soaking tubs for two, whirlpool tubs, steam showers and private balconies. What we like about the Whalewalk is the quaint, country charm, the elegant but homey décor and the short walk to Rock Harbor, and one of the most colorful sunsets in New England. Even better: the feeling you get when you’re snuggled with your loved one in a Whalewalk suite, that the rest of the world is as it should befar, far away. Depending on the season, rooms range from $205 to $450. The Saltbox Cottage is $290 in season, $215 out. Here, there’s a two-night minimum.

The other honeymoon destinations mentioned in the article are: The Fairmont Copley Plaza, Beacon XV, and Daniel Webster Inn.
